Quick ManualThe very first thing you should do is verifying that the interlocks on scrapers and corresponding collimators are disabled by Operation Otherwise, the SPS beam will disappear as soon as you move one of these elements. First Select your working cycle.
It's repeated here when you 'Get Status':
Get Scraper Statusby pushing 'Get Scraper Status' Button in the Status panel. Get Collimator and Scraper Motor Status and Repair if necessaryby pushing 'Get Status' in the Collimator/Scraper Low Level Control Panel Status should look like this with every blocks on switch Minus or Plus and positions close to the one given here.
If it is not the case, press the 'Retract All' Button. This will put every block on limit and then reset the positions. Set your collimator in place if necessaryEnter target position in corresponding box, then press Enter key. Check with Get Status that everything went well. Set your scraping settings (before to enable scraping)For Standard ScrapingEnter your Delay (in ms with respect with beam in, we'll try to reach chamber center at that time), H Position and V Position and press enter. These values are used for the H, V and H&V scraping but not for User Defined scraping. If your enter this values during scraping, they'll be taken into account on the next cycle occurrence. You do not need to stop scraping to tune these values.
For User Defined ScrapingUse the User Defined Scraping Ctrl' Panel for this. The bottom panel shows the current settings:
You can edit them, the new values are sent when you press return. Don't forget to put a delay of -999 after the last movement.
The setFromFile button allows you to pre-load an existing setting (like DIFFMD0 for instance). The middle window gives you a resume of the previous scrape.
You can also see it in the '2D Plot' Panel. To see the legend, select
Misc->Show Legend in the little
Enable ScrapingBy clicking on 'H Scrap', 'V Scrap', 'H&V Scrap' or 'User Def' depending of your choice.
Disable ScrapingBy putting it to Idle. (This does not retract automatically all scrapers. They stay in their 'ready' place, close to action). If your finished, retract them with the 'Retract All Scrapers' Button from the Status panel or the 'Retract All' from the Low Level Control Panel (but make sure they are Idle if you use this way!) Trouble ShootingIt's good to know that in the worst case, switching off the crate will not fire the interlock but just an alarm. Ie, the interlock is fired when a not allowed position is found but not when it is not possible to read the position. In case of major problems, it is possible to ask Gerard to put the blocks out with the test box and then to switch off the crate. Rebooting the crateThe crate is bsc50s Recovering from a power Cut
